ABOUT ME

My Story

Following my diagnosis with Limb Girdle muscular dystrophy in 2017, I failed out of college due to my inability to keep up in the musical theatre program I was enrolled in, and the College’s refusal to give me accommodations. I then turned to social sciences and discovered my passion for social justice.

I always had a passion for writing and interviewing and knew from this point on that I wanted to study the social facet of our world. Studying sociology and interdisciplinary sexuality studies was the road for me to take and it allowed me to educate myself on topics I was already so curious about, and hopefully make it a career further down the line. In 2019, I came out to my Instagram followers about having an (at the time) mostly invisible disability and shared my journey with acceptance and attempted to educate others on the diverse topics linked to disability. In 2020, a friend of mine suggested I present a conference in an event his place of work was holding. I said yes, and never stopped.

I’ve had the chance to teach and talk to people all over the country, in university, community, political and work settings, virtually, in-person, on television, on the radio, and in writing, and plan on continuing to do so for as long as I can.

Pictures of those moments are available in the photo gallery section, under the archives tab.
