POV: you’re a disabled person asking for accessibility and I’m an able-bodied person deciding if you deserve to get it
I was out the other day and almost had to fight a bartender so she’d let me sit on a stool. Way too many times I’ve had to stand there, being stared up and down by strangers who were trying to decide whether or not I was asking for accommodations I didn’t need, whether or not I was faking being disabled.
Disabled people come in all shapes, sizes, ages and appearances. We wear joggings, tights dresses, jeans and dressed pants. We go to bars, clubs, libraries and restaurants. Might I add that this event I was at claimed having a no tolerance policy for ableism… yeah, let’s review that.
Unless the accommodation being asked for puts the life of others in danger, give us the accommodations we ask for.

Second frame: me laughing. Caption is: I cannot do that with a straight face, skull face emoji.
Third frame: me pointing to the caption. Caption is: believe disabled people and give them the accommodations they ask for.
